I have always been creative and artistic, leading me to study first at Goldsmiths and then at the Kent Institute of Art and Design.
The work I make is inspired by the found objects that I collect! They are usually, old or damaged but, I love their faded, weathered textures and colours... and the fact that they were once useful. This stuff is other peoples rubbish! Fabrics; paper; discarded windows and doors; boxes; chairs; I suppose I re cycle them! I like to think I've saved them from the land fill sites.
I do not feel any sentimental attachment to these objects, nor am I interested in their history but I like the fact that I am preserving their strange beauty, which is so close to completely disappearing. Often I don't really know what I'm doing until I get into a piece! I just do it and see if it makes sense afterwards. I have recently been painting very bright patterns on canvas...a new project!
